Vidcast

You probably know that people retain only 10% of what they read but 65% of what they see and hear. But did you know that people are 75% more likely to watch a video than read a document, email, or online article?

Are you looking for a way to engage staff in your building with announcements, updates, progress checks, or other asynchronous communications?

Westside staff have access to a new tool – Vidcast!

Vidcast allows you to quickly record videos and then generates an interactive link that allows you to ask questions and views to record emoji reactions and provide feedback and comments. It’s great when you need to announce, update, review, explain, or demonstrate something to your team. It’s more personal than email!

Vidcast can be accessed directly from the left sidebar in Webex on your Mac (Great for posting in a Webex Space!), or on the web using Chrome or Edge at vidcast.io

Frequently Asked Questions:

What types of video can I record/import/use?

You can:

  • Import recorded Webex meetings (great for those who missed them!)
  • Upload video files (currently limited to 15 min, soon to expand to 60)
  • Record your video or do a screen recording directly in the app

Does Vidcast incorporate AI?

Yes! Vidcast uses AI to generate a ‘highlight’ reel of the most important pieces of videos, allowing you to quickly see what’s important. This is great for summarizing a long Webex recording! Vidcast will also auto-generate chapter markers, making it easier to quickly jump to specific parts of your video.

Would you use this with students?

This tool is designed primarily for staff and building collaboration.

How does Vidcast work with the Webex App on macOS?

You can manage your library, view content, and record VidCast right from the Webex app on your Mac. See this link for details: https://help.vidcast.io/en/articles/9043951-webex-app-integration-macos
